The Israeli military's chief of staff criticized lawmakers who have said the army is acting forcefully enough against Hamas in the face of attacks from the strip.
The mortars that were fired at Israel on Friday morning originated in Iran and were provided by the Islamic State to small terror groups in Gaza, Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman said.
Israeli officials warned that Hamas, which has controlled the Gaza Strip since 2007, will be held accountable for any cross-border hostility in the area.
