The museum has one of the largest collections of its kind in Europe but even before its financial difficulties lacked a space to show most of its 40,000 objects.
The win came despite a decision by the Israel Football Association to recall five of its key players before the game so they could join Israeli teams ahead of upcoming matches in Europe.
