Yeshiva University marked its tenth anniversary as a university with the presentation of a Charter Day award to industrialist Thomas J. Watson and certificates for “advancing the spiritual and cultural heritage of Judaism” to ten men and women, including Morris Weinberg, publisher of the Day-Morning Journal, Yiddish daily newspaper.
Although the university is only ten years old, the college from which it was formed was established in 1886. When it became a university, Yeshiva had only five schools. It has since grown to 15 schools or divisions, including the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, the only Jewish-sponsored medical school in America.
