Washington’s mayor expressed support for a proposal by Israel’s ambassador to the United States to set aside land in the nation’s capital for a monument to honor David Ben-Gurion, Israel’s first prime minister. Zalman Shoval proposed the idea for a privately funded monument on a donated plot of city land during a meeting with Mayor Anthony Williams on Wednesday.
