A 14-year-old Palestinian resident of the Balata refugee camp near Nablus was fatally shot today by an Israeli who opened fire on a group of youngsters stoning his vehicle.
Another Arab youth was wounded by an Israeli ambulance driver whose vehicle was stoned while transporting a sick Jewish settler from the West Bank to a hospital in Israel.
The incident marked the worst flare-up of violence in the territory in recent weeks as enraged West Bank Arabs observed the 40-day mourning period for Palestinian civilians massacred in two west Beirut refugee camps last month. School children left their classrooms, stoned Israeli vehicles, burned tires and flew Palestinian flags from school buildings.
