Advices reaching here today report that the Vatican has intervened with the Slovakian government for a more humane treatment of the Jews in Slovakia. Doubt is expressed, however, as to whether the reported intervention will bring any results, since only today Sano Mach, the Slovak Minister of Interior, announced in Bratislava that he is determined to “completely extinguish” the Jews of his country.
