UNESCO to Honor Memory of Zamenhof, Jewish Creator of Esperanto

The United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization will participate in the celebration of the centenary of Dr. L. Zamenhof, a Warsaw Jew who has given the Esperanto language to the world. UNESCO executive board members said it was “perfectly appropriate” for the creator of an international language to be honored by an international organization.
