Two of the five displaced Jews who have been on trial here on charges of rioting, assault and interference with traffic were today acquitted by an American military court. The two were Rabbi Moses Weiss and Pinkus Hoggraf, a member of the Riedenburg camp committee.
The remaining three defendants were sentenced to six months each. Lipa Skolski, former chief of the Jewish police at the camp, was cleared of the charges against him but the court sentenced him for failure to report persons sought by the military police. Jerzy Morgenstern and Josef Cehanowski were found guilty of participating in a riot on Feb. 19.
Two months of Skolski’s sentence was suspended and, in adition, it was ordered that the remaining four months run from Feb. 19. Four months of Morgenstern’s sentence and two months of Cehanowski’s were also suspended.
