Four thousand years of Jewish life and its interaction with world civilization will be explored in a new television series, WNET/THIRTEEN announced. Former Israeli Foreign Minister Abba Eban will appear as on-air host and commentator in the 13-part series, tentatively titled “Civilization and the Jews.” He will also serve as chief consultant to the series. The documentary will soon begin production on four continents, made possible with a $1 million grant over three years from the Charles H. Revson Foundation. Marc Siegel, an award-winning writer-director-producer, will serve as executive producer for the series which is scheduled to be broadcast In the spring of 1982. The estimated cost of the series Is $3.5 to $4 million.
