Seven Jewish communities of Western Pennsylvania, six communities of West Virginia and four of Ohio are expected to be represented at a tri-state conference in the interests of the United Jewish Appeal on June 3 in Pittsburgh. Rabbi Samuel Freehof of Chicago, who has accepted a call to fill the pulpit of Temple Rodef Salom, will speak.
The conference synchronizes with the opening of a campaign in Pittsburgh for the United Jewish Appeal and other causes under the leadership of Leo Lehman as chairman and Leon Falk Jr. and Alfred M. Oppenheimer as cochairmen. The objective of the Pittsburgh campaign is $100,000, of which at least 80 per cent is designated for the relief of German Jewry.
