The House on Monday adopted without dissent a resolution calling on the government of Syria to allow Jews who wish to emigrate to depart without restriction. The resolution said the request is based on humanitarian grounds. The resolution now goes to the Senate for action. The measure was introduced by Rep. Stephen Solarz (D.NY) under suspension of House rules, a step which requires two-thirds of the House to approve for passage. With no dissent, the measles was adopted as offered.
