The gunman who was shot dead after killing eight students at the Mercaz HaRav yeshiva was buried.
Police released the remains of Ala Abu Dhaim, 25, to his family early Thursday, allowing for a predawn funeral near his east Jerusalem home attended by a handful of relatives.
Israeli authorities had previously withheld Abu Dhaim’s body, citing concern that his burial ceremony would turn into a frenzy of pro-Palestinian propaganda attended by thousands of mourners.
The quiet handover suggested a deal had been reached between police and the Abu Dhaim family, which has been threatened with having its home razed as a reprisal for the Palestinian’s shooting rampage a week ago at the Jerusalem yeshiva.
Abu Dhaim was killed by an armed off-duty soldier.
