The first openly lesbian city council member in Israel told a conference of gay, lesbian and bisexual Jewish activists that she plans to run for the Knesset in the next election. If she wins, Michal Eden, a councilwoman in Tel Aviv who will run with the leftist Meretz Party, would be Israel’s first openly gay legislator.
