Funeral services were held at Temple Emanu-El today for Paul Block, newspaper publisher, who died here yesterday at the age of 63 after an illness of several months. Block was president of Paul Block and Associates and publisher of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Toledo Blade and Toledo Times.
He was born in Elmira, N.Y., on Nov. 2, 1877, was educated in the Elmira public schools and at Cornell University. He was active in Jewish philanthropy, heading the 1931 campaign of the New York Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies. He is survived by a widow, two sons, a brother and three sisters.
