Selman Waksman Gets Nobel Peace Prize for Work on Streptomycin

Prof. Selmam Waksman, 64-year-old Rutgers University scientist, was today awarded the 1952 Nobel Prize in medicine for his discovery of streptomycin, the anti-biotic drug, it was announced here today. The prize comes to $33,037. The American Jewish scientist immigrated to the United States from Russia when he was 22 years old.
