About 100 Hebrew University scientists held a hunger strike today in a demonstration of support for Jewish scientists in the Soviet Union who have been on a hunger strike for the past week to protest their denial of exit visas.
The Israeli scientists called on their colleagues in the United States to demonstrate their support for Russian Jewry when Soviet Communist Party. Secretary Leonid I. Brezhnev visits the U.S. next week. They said that “everyone who cares about the freedom of man must help Russian Jews attain their basic right to join their people in their homeland.”
