Samuel Gordon, Anglo-Jewish novelist and dramatist, died last night at the age of 56.
Samuel Gordon, whose work dealt almost wholly with Jewish life and character, was the author of “A Handful of Exotics,” “Daughters of Shem,” “Lesser Destinies,” “Sons of the Covenant” and “Strangers at the Gate.” Among his plays is “The Way Back.”
The late writer was born in Buk, Germany, Sept. 10, 1871. He came to England with his parents in 1883 and was educated at the City of London School and Cambridge University, He was appointed secretary of the Great Synagogue in London, in 1894.
