Panait Theodosathos, honorary Portuguese consul in Braila, Rumania, has been sentenced by a Rumanian court to one year at hard labor one year at hard labor on the charge that he issued forged Portuguese passports to stateless Jews in Rumania in order to help them evade anti-Jewish laws, the German official news agency DNB reported today. Theodosathos is a prominent Greek businessman who has resided in Rumania for many years.
The Bukarester Tageblatt, reaching here today, reports that the commander of Alba-Julia, Rumania, has begun to publish lists of Jews who “desert” from compulsory labor and disappear from the labor camps. The first list contains 238 names, the Nazi paper says.
