The charge that “one million Jews in Nazi-dominated Rumania are being pushed to extermination” is made by the Institute of Jewish Affairs in a publication issued here today under the title “Cold Pogrom in Rumania.”
The Institute, of which Dr. Jacob Robinson is director, estimates that there are today 200,000 Jews isolated in Transnistria, the prison province which the Rumanian government has established in the occupied Ukraine as a “Jewish reservation.” Jews deported from Rumania into Transnistria must perform forced labor and are not permitted to cross back into Rumania proper. Moreover, they are not permitted to move from one region to another within the prison province under penalty of death.
The full text of the laws governing the Jews in Transnistria, as proclaims by Ion Antonescu, Marshal of Rumania, on November 11, 1941, is reproduced in the publication issued by the Institute which was established by the American Jewish Congress and the World Jewish Congress.
