Reuven Dafni, former Israel Consul in New York, has been appointed director of the Israel office of the United Jewish Appeal, it was announced today by Rabbi Herbert Friedman, executive vice-chairman of the UJA. Mr. Dafni will succeed Shlomo Eisenberg, who has been honorary representative of the United Jewish Appeal in Israel for the past ten years.
The United Jewish Appeal office in Israel serves as liaison with the Jewish Agency which administers immigrant aid programs in Israel financed in greatest part through the UJA. Mr. Eisenberg has asked to be relieved of his UJA responsibilities for personal reasons and so that he could devote himself more fully to his many interests in Israel.
