Harder times were predicted here today for Jews in the Baltic countries and Minsk district following the announcement from Berlin that Alfred Rosenberg has been appointed Reich Minister in charge of the civil administration in the Baltics and occupied White Russia.
“The Reich is now fighting to death against the Jews,” the Voelkischer Beobachter in Berlin, of which Rosenberg is editor-in-chief, said today in a violent anti-Jewish article. The section of White Russia over which Rosenberg will rule includes the Jewish-populated regions of Minsk, Polotzk, Vitebsk, Mogilev and Bobruisk – all formerly a part of Soviet Russia.
