Rabbi Yitzhak Hutner, a leading Orthodox educator and Talmudic sage. died here Friday at the age of 74. He was buried the same day on the Mount of Olives where his casket was brought on foot by pupils and admirers.
Rabbi Hutner was born in Poland of a distinguished rabbinic family. As a young man he published a learned work on the lows of the Nazirite which earned him the praise of leading Talmudic scholars. Later he settled in the U.S. with his family and founded the Rabbi Haim Berlin Yeshiva, one of New York City’s leading schools of advanced Talmudic studies. Hutner also played a major role in Orthodox high school education in the U.S.
