Rabbi David Sherman, the first spiritual leader of the Reform congregation in Cape Town, died Sunday at 92. The son of an Orthodox rabbi, Sherman graduated from Boston University and Hebrew Union College before taking up an appointment to lead the then-fledgling Reform congregation in Cape Town 56 years ago.
