The trial for murder the of Jan Gratkowski was again postponed today due to the absence of several witnesses. The three Jews charged with the murder, Israel Tune, Nachemia Schmer and Moishe Katz, continue to deny their guilt.
Gratkowski was killed on November 26, 1932, after he and five companions attacked a group of Jews following a drunken revel. He was a student at the University of Lemberg. The week after the slaying there were serious anti-Semitic riots, resulting in the injury of more than 150 Jews. The university was closed when the rioting became serious. Quiet was restored two weeks later after the Zionist Athletic Stadium had been fired and destroyed by anti-Semitic Polish students.
