A communique issued tonight said the situation throughout Palestine was generally quiet.

A report that curfew had been imposed anywhere but in Tel Aviv and Jaffa, chief centers of the disturbances, which was denied in the official statement reviewing the day’s events.

The communique repeated previously made warnings against spread of rumors and counseled the public not to give credence to reports that have not been authenticated.

An earlier statement said a police patrol in the Florentine quarter of the all-Jewish city of Tel Aviv had been fired upon by a group of Jewish curfew violators. The patrol was reported to have returned the fire. There was no casualties, members of the group returning to their homes.
