The next major measure affecting the Austrian Jews will be the extension of the Nuremberg racial laws to the Reich’s new province, according to an article in the current issue of Social Practice, the official organ circulated in the ministries and Government circles.
The authoritative forecast dispels the belief held in some quarters that regulations less drastic than the Nuremberg laws were planned for Austria. The legislation, adopted in September, 1935, by the Reichstag in Nuremberg, fixes the status of Jews as second-class citizens, prohibits Jews from marrying “Aryans” and from displaying the swastika.
