An Emergency Relief Conference of the officers and workers of the United Jewish Campaign of the State of New York has been called for Sunday, December ninth, by Louis Marshall, Honorary Chairman for New York State, and Bernard B. Given of Syracuse, the State Chairman. The conference is to be held at the Ten Eyck Hotel, Albany, N. Y.
Responses to the invitation so far received by State Headquarters at Syracuse indicate that from four to five hundred persons representing the entire state will attend. David A. Brown, Herbert H. Lehman, Lieutenant-Governor-elect; and David M. Bressler, acting chairman of the Greater New York United Jewish Campaign, will address the conference.
The Albany Reception Committee is now being organized by the Chairman for Albany, Bertram M. Aufsesser.
Mr. Given expressed the hope that as a result of the Conference, State Headquarters will be able to complete all collections not later than next Spring. The gathering is one of a series of state and city conferences arranged for the purpose of speeding up collections.
MIZRACHI YOUTH MEET IN CONVENTION
With decisions to raise $10,000 during the coming year for the Mizrachi Chalutzim, to urge the speedy realization of the resolution passed at the last World Mizrachi Conference at Danzig, to build an agricultural Mizrachi College in Palestine and to continue to cooperate in the raising of funds for the Jewish National Fund and the United Palestine Appeal, the seventh annual convention of the Mizrachi Hatzair concluded its sessions at the Hotel Pennsylvania, New York City.
Harry Karp, president of the organization for the last six years, was reelceted president; Isidore Epstein and Max Hagler. vice presidents; and Jenny Kottler, secretary.
Three hundred delegates attended the convention which was opened by Max Hagler. Mr. Karp reviewed the six year’s work of the organization and pointed to the achievements of the organization made in behalf of Palestine.
Gedaliah Bublick, president of the Mizrachi Organization of America, praised the work of the Junior Mizrachi Organization.
A vote of confidence in the leadership of the American Mizrachi Organization was adopted.
A campaign for $75,000 for the Brunswick Avenue Talmud Torah, Toronto, Canada, was opened Monday evening, with a banquet given in honor of its president M. Belber, with Rabbi Barnett Brikner of Cleveland, as the principal speaker. Over 700 children attend the Talmud Torah.
