The famous Munich Jewish attorney, Dr. Loewenfeld, was so severely tortured in the Nazi concentration camp at Dachau that his survival is doubtful, it was learned today.
Dr. Loewenfeld gained many distinctions as an army officer during the War in which he served in a Bavarian regiment, where, unlike Prussia, there were no restrictions against Jewish officers.
He was arrested because he was chiefly instrumental in exposing the scandal surrounding the homosexual practices of Captain Ernst Roehm, commander of the Nazi storm troops.
A journalist, “M. X”., who has just returned from an inspection trip to the Dachau camp, declares he will never revisit it because free movement of journalists there is forbidden. He was shown only a few well-treated communists, he said, but was refused permission to speak to several Jews who happened to be in the prison yard.
