A West German-financed monument in memory of Nazi victims of the Mauthausen concentration camp in Austria, was formally presented to the Austrian government today at the site of the former camp.
The Bonn government was represented at the ceremonies by Deputy Foreign Minister Juergen Moellemann. Several Bundestag members were also present. The memorial project was initiated in 1980 by members of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), now the opposition, who had visited the Mauthausen site.
