George Meany, president of the American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations, announced today that the American labor movement would fully subscribe to $10 million in debentures of Histadrut, the Israel Labor Federation. The proceeds will be used to expand Histadrut’s cooperatives in Israel. Mr. Meany’s announcement was made at a special luncheon today attended by top officials of the 14-million member American labor organization. Aharon Becker, secretary-general of Histadrut, who is attending the AFL-CIO convention, was present at the luncheon.
