Max Gabel, prominent Yiddish actor and playwright, who wrote about 120 plays, has died here. He was 75 years old. Funeral services will take place tomorrow.
Born in Gorlitz, Galicia, he was brought to the United States at the age of 11, and while working in factories he was attracted to the Yiddish theatre. At the age of 14 he joined a dramatic club in New York and later became one of the leading stars of the Jewish stage. He retired in 1932 and settled in California.
