A fire which did damage estimated at more than £70,000 and destroyed nearly a million empty organge cases, broke out in a Jewish-owned lumber company here today.

The fire was said to be the most destructive ever to break out in Palestine. The expot seaso, now at its high tide, will probably be held up.

Oranges are the chief export item in Palestine, and articles incidental to the trade have been, until recently, purchased abroad. Insustrial development has been rapid, however, and most of the requirements of life in Palestine, including such nccessities as food, clothing, furniture, building materials, as well as small articles, can be obtained from domestic sources.
