In connection with the projected Jewish section at the International press exhibition to be held in Cologne in 1928. Herr Josef Lin, Librarian of the Berlin Jewish Community and a member of the Organization Committee of the Exhibition, has told the J. T. A. here that it is intended that the Jewish section should give a complete picture of the life of the Jews as expressed in Jewish periodical publications. The section would endeavor to depict the Jewish press in its entirety from its beginnings to the present day. The entire press of the Jews embraces about 4,000 newspapers and periodicals published in thirty different languages, about 650 in Hebrew, 1,500 in Yiddish. 550 in Gorman. 500 in English, 100 in French, 200 in Russian, 100 in Judo-Spanish, 50 in Polish, 50 in Hungarian, 50 in Dutch, 30 in Roumanian, 30 in Arabic, and 30 in Italian. These include dailies, weeklies and monthlies, party organs belonging to all movements and trade organs.
The Organization Committee. Herr Lin said, is non-partisan and is carrying out its work from the purely historical and scientific point of view.
A majority of Jewish members have been returned to the town councils of Kovel and Vladimir-Volinsk, polling for which took place yesterday. Over 90 per cent of the electors voted. The new Municipality of hovel consists of 14 Jews, 9 Poles (5 Socialists, 2 Nationalists and 2 non-Partisans) and 2 Ukrainians. At Vladimir-Volinsk, the new Council consists of 14 Jews, 6 Poles (2 Socialists. 2 Democrats, one Nationalist and one non-Partisan) and 4 Ukrainians.
Many small stones from the Third Wall of Jerusalem have recently been sent to America at the request of subscribers here to the fund for the excavation of the Wall. The Palestine Department of Antiquities gave its authority for the stones to be sent out of the country.
Establishment of an alleged pro-Klan broadcasting station in Washington seems to be assured as a result of the action by the Radio Commission today in approving the sale of the good-will and equipment of Station WTRC. Brooklyn. N. Y., to the Independent Publishing Company, which prints and operates “The Fellowship Forum”, a weekly newspaper devoted in large part to the furtherance of the principles and purposes of the Klan.
