Legislative attempts to weaken the structure of the New York State Commission Against Discrimination were attacked today by the New York civil rights panel of the Jewish Labor Committee. The attack came in a resolution addressed to Governor Harriman and leaders of the state Legislature.
The resolution lauded SCAD, called for manpower and financial strengthening of the unit, and granting it power to investigate and initiate complaints–powers not now part of its functions.
