The Jewish Daily Courier, one of the oldest Jewish newspapers in the United States, today suspended publication after 57 years.
“Constantly rising costs, irreplaceable personnel losses, curtailed business due to war conditions and mounting losses, all brought about a situation which led to this decision,” the publishers declare in a statement announcing the closing of the publication which played an important role in the development of Jewish communal life in Chicago.
