The Jewish population in Spain now totals 7, 000, according to estimates released today by leaders of the Spanish Jewish community. About 3, 000 Jews live in Madrid, another 3, 000 in Barcelona and most of the remaining 1, 000 in Valencia and Malaga. The bulk of Spanish Jewry consists of European Jews who found refuge there during the Nazi era and Sephardic Jews from Spanish Morocco.
