A Jewish boy, Bernard S. Karmatz, is the first candidate to be named in the annual contest for Boy Mayor of this city. Bernard, who was Receiver of Taxes in last year’s Boy Government, is conceded an excellent chance of ruling Philadelphia for one hour on May 1, in place of Mayor Kendrick.
Bernard is leading the Lincoln Party ticket of Boy Scouts. He has an imposing personal record in conjunction with a comprehensive platform.
He is a member of Unami Lodge, W. W. W., the highest fraternal Boy Scout order; a senior patrol leader for three years; was bearer of the message from Mayor Kendrick to President Coolidge boosting the Sesqui-Centennial in April, 1925; is a member of the “Honorary Club,” highest honor bestowed upon a Scout in his troop, and winner of several Scout cups and other honors.
Among others running with Karmatz for various offices are: Arthur Liebscher for City Treasurer, Morris Dannenberg, Hyman Malkin and Isadore Manulkin, who are running for Councilmanic seats.
