The two Palestine terrorists who are charged with assassinating Lord Moyne have abandoned their plans to present no defense when their trial opens next week and have engaged the services of one of the most eminent Egyptian jurists, Abdel Fattah ol Sayed Bey, and also appointed Charles Golding, a British lawyer, to their defense staff, it was announced today.
Last week, the Egyptian Government, acting upon the statement by the two accused, Eliahu Chakim and Ephraim Ben-Zuri, that they would present no formal defense, apporinted two attorneys to protect their rights in court. Today’s announcement indicates that Chakim and Ben-Yuri plan to put up a stiff legal fight to save themselves from the death penalty, which will be demanded by the prosecution.
