Prime Minister Levi Eshkol today appointed a special three-man committee to examine the question of whether the continued existence of Israel’s National Defense College is justified in view of the country’s difficult economic situation.
The committee, which will be headed by Dr. Yigael Yadin, professor of archeology at the Hebrew University and former Chief of Staff of the Israel Armed Forces, will also include Professor Yehoshua Prawer and Yaakov Arnon, director general of the Finance Ministry. Protests have been voiced from various quarters over plans to close the college which have been proposed as an economy measure.
