The Israel merchant marine, which numbered five vessels at the birth of the Jewish state less than two years ago, now consists of 18 ships, it was announced here today. The announcement was made by Aba Chushi, secretary of the Haifa Labor Council and deputy in the Knesset, who added that Israel vessels are transporting about 50 percent of the immigrants who arrive here.
