The first performance in Vilna by an Israeli artist was a tremendous success and the audience refused to allow him to leave before he gave five encores, it was reported here today from Moscow.

Violinist Ivry Gitlis gave a series of concerts under the cultural exchange program of the Soviet Union and Israel. His other concerts were given in Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev and Odessa.
