Four Israeli jet fighters clashed today with an equal number of Jordanian aircraft which this noon entered Israeli airspace near Ein Geddi, on the western banks of the Dead Sea, and chased the Jordanians back to their own territory.
An Israel army spokesman said that four Jordanian “Hunter” planes were seen near Ein Geddi and were “fought off” by the Israeli Mirage fighters. The four pairs of planes chased one another around the skies for about 40 minutes, but there was little shooting and there were no casualties on either side.
