The Israel Air Force unveiled a new unmanned surveillance drone. The
long-range Heron, which is manufactured by the state-owned Israel Aerospace
Industries, was inaugurated Wednesday at the Palmachim air base. Independent
experts said the Heron already saw action during last year’s
Lebanon war and over the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and that it may be capable of carrying missiles for track-and-kill missions against terrorist leaders. Israel has not commented on whether its Air Force
drones are armed.
