At the suggestion of the Israeli Minister in Budapest, the Hungarian Foreign Ministry has recommended that 25,000 Hungarian Jews be allowed to emigrate to Israel, it was reported here. However, a final decision has been delayed because of the Hungarian Foreign Ministrys demand that the transfer of assets by the emigrants he limited and by the Labor Ministry’s objections to the departure from the country of skilled persons.

The reports circulating here say that the Hungarian authorities are also demanding trade concession as a quid pro quo for their agreement to Jewish emigration. Although details of the Hungarians’ demands are not available here, it is believed the Hungarians–in an effort to improve their trade relations with Israel–are asking for certain raw materials, machinery and shipping facilities.
