Hundreds of Czech Jewish communities lost in the Holocaust were remembered at a recent conference in Chicago that drew Jews from across the United States and Britain. The conference focused on 1,564 Czech Torah scrolls that were rescued nearly 40 years ago from an abandoned synagogue in Prague.
