Holocaust Remembrance Day events in Israel were scheduled to begin Monday night with a state ceremony and a beacon-lighting at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial. On Tuesday, a siren will be sounded in memory of the 6 million Jewish victims, followed by other vigils throughout the country and the world. As part of the commemoration, Yad Vashem officials are continuing their campaign to document all the names of the victims. After publishing “testimony sheets” requesting data about the victims in last Friday’s Israeli newspapers, the officials said they had received requests from thousands of people for additional forms on which to list the names of lost relatives.
