Hebron house residents ordered to vacate

Israel’s High Court of Justice ordered the Jewish residents of a house in Hebron to vacate.

The 20 Jewish families have 72 hours to leave, the court ruled Sunday in response to a petition filed by the Jewish community of Hebron. The state, which originally ordered the residents to vacate, was named the temporary custodian of the building pending a district court ruling on the title rights.

The families, who moved into the four-story building located halfway between Kiryat Arba and the Cave of the Patriarchs in March 2007, claim they bought the home from its Palestinian owner. The Palestinian has denied the sale.
