On the occasion of his seventieth birthday. Alfred M. Cohen of Cincinnati, was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Hebrew Law here on Saturday afternoon, October 19, at the opening exercises of the fifty-fifth year of the Hebrew Union College.
Mr. Cohen has been chairman of the college’s Board of Governors for 12 years, and a member of the Board for 28 years. He is international president of B’nai B’rith. member of the Executive Board of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, president of the People’s Bank and Savings Co., past president of Rockdale Avenue Temple, former member of the Ohio Senate, past president of the Ohio Electoral College, past national president of the Young Men’s Hebrew Association, and an honorary member of Ruth Lodge No. 18 of Cincinnati,
Charles Shohl of Cincinnati, honorary president of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, and Dr. Julian Morgenstern, president of Hebrew Union College, were the speakers.
