Hebrew University President Eliahu Elath told the university’s board of governors today that the university’s financial position had never been so serious and that the task of the governors was finding means to avert the school’s “financial collapse.”
The meeting was opened by Judge Louis E. Levinthal of Philadelphia, board chairman, who called on the Israel Government to chart overall policies on a long-range basis. Special mention was made of the proposed Harry Truman Peace Center, which will be erected at the university, as one of the most important accomplishments of the university in recent years.
