The American Jewish Committee today announced that following representations made in Greece, to the Minister of Justice and to former Regent Archbishop Damaskince, by Dr. Max Gottschalk, director of its foreign affairs department, steps are now being taken to halt the vandalism that had been practiced in the Jewish cemetery of Salonika.

A message from Salonika to the American Jewish Committee states that the Governor General of Macedonia has authorized the hiring of two guards for the semester to be designated by the Jewish community and paid by the government. A further message to the American Jewish Committee from Athens states that 41 boxes, weighing 15 tons, of archives and publications looted by the Nazis, have been returned from Germany and unloaded at Piraeus.
